Luxury Retreats
This year we will be hosting 3 incredible retreats at Marshwood Manor. We have been asked for this so many times, but have taken our time to curate a retreat that has everything needed to give Marshwood Manor retreaters the experience we think they expect and deserve.
That includes restorative Iyengar yoga led by the very best International teachers, sea-swimming on the Jurassic coast, guided hikes through the vales of West Dorset, meditations in our ancient woodland, sound bathing, exquisite food, private secluded accommodation, exclusive use of the estate, deep silence of a kind that's hard to find, fire ceremonies under starry night skies... and all the usual MM magic.

The Yoga...

will be led by Rachel and Hannah Lovegrove, two sisters at the zenith of Iyengar practice and study.

Having practiced since a teenager, Hannah Lovegrove trained seriously through the 1990s and began teaching in 2002. She is now a senior senior teacher, trainer & mentor. She teaches regular Iyengar Yoga classes, online and in person, monthly workshops and occasional retreats and holidays, while returning regularly to India for the pursuit of her own development. For people who have health needs, she helps them manage their condition through therapeutic yoga practice, and is a Professional Partner with the Axminster & Lyme Regis Cancer Support group. She is the vice-chair of the UK Iyengar Yoga Association.

With over 25 years of experience, Rachel Lovegrove is a highly respected Senior Level 3 Iyengar yoga teacher and mentor. She founded Orange Tree Iyengar Yoga and is renowned for her pragmatic, open, and supportive teaching style, which encourages students from all backgrounds to realize their full potential through the transformative power of yoga. As one of her testimonials reads "You couldn’t have a better teacher than Rachel. However little or however much you can do, she will show you how to make it all possible, while working your body absolutely correctly. And you will feel the wonderful glow of achievement.”

The Accommodation...

will be in our beautiful estate cottages. We have thirteen double, king-size, and superking rooms available - 7 with own bathroom, 6 sharing a bathroom with one other room. If retreaters are coming in a group of 2 or 3 we can arrange for them to share their own private cottage. Cottages will be stocked with fruit bowls, fresh mint, lemon, and ginger for cleansing teas, and toiletries. All have their own utlity rooms for drying or washing kit. All have comfortable sitting-rooms for cosying up on sofas by a log-burner to read or chat or rest.

The lay-out of our cottages around a central courtyard means retreaters can have their own space to return to while never feeling cut off. The terraces and gardens provide countless spots for walks, exploring, or just sitting and taking in the beauty of the Marshwood Vale.

The Food...

will be a highlight of the retreat, focusing on an abundance of nutrients, flavours, and local organic ingredients. Brunch will be our main meal of the day with a mezze of hearty dishes and at least two courses. Tea will be a healthy and delicious snack to keep us going and dinner will be light, nourishing meal of elegant flavours and gentle textures.

We will all eat together, outdoors when weather permits, either on the terrace, in the courtyard, or under one of the great oak trees in the grounds. It would not be a Marshwood Manor retreat if our meals did not feel special and play a pivotal role in making our retreaters feel indulged, cared for, healed and delighted. We are passionate about our local produce so there will be some fish, seafood and dairy in the menus, but many dishes will be vegetarian or vegan and gluten free. We can cater for most dietary requirements with advanced knowledge.

The Rest...

All the other elements of this wonderful break will be curated with the same care we take over everything we do. Morning swims will be beside the stunning cliffs of West Bay east beach, hikes will be atop iron-age hill forts or along the famous coastal path, meditations will be seated in our very special woodland amphitheatre in the dappled green sunlight accompanied by the sounds of wildlife and the trickling stream.
